How to Book a Badminton Court in Dubai (Without the Hassle)

Short answer: most badminton courts in Dubai are booked by the hour through an app (Playo or Playtomic) or by calling the venue. Pick a date, a 1-hour slot and a court, pay online, and you get a confirmation straight away. Weekday evenings and weekend mornings fill first, so book those a few days ahead. At SPSA in Dubai Investment Park, an indoor air-conditioned court costs AED 50 an hour (AED 60 on weekend mornings and public holidays), booked on Playo.

How badminton court booking works in Dubai

There are three ways to book, and most venues offer more than one:

  1. Booking apps. Playo and Playtomic list courts across Dubai with live availability. You see which slots are free, pay in the app and get an instant confirmation. This is the quickest way if you know when you want to play.
  2. Calling or messaging the venue. Better for anything unusual: a regular weekly slot, several courts at once, a birthday or a company game. Many venues hold back regular slots that never appear in the apps.
  3. Walking in. Possible at quieter times, but don’t count on it in the evening. Courts are usually fully booked from about 6pm.

How much does a badminton court cost in Dubai?

Prices are per court, per hour, and depend on three things:

  • Indoor or outdoor. Indoor, air-conditioned courts cost more, but for most of the year they are the only comfortable option. Outdoor and park courts are cheaper or free, with long waits and the heat to deal with (we looked at the free options in Is there really a free badminton court in Dubai?).
  • Time of day and day of the week. Many venues charge more at peak times, usually weekend mornings and public holidays.
  • What’s included. Check whether VAT is in the price, and whether you need to buy shuttles or hire rackets on top.

Split between four players for doubles, an hour of indoor badminton usually works out cheaper per person than a cinema ticket.

When to book: peak and quiet times

  • Busiest: weekday evenings from about 6pm to 10pm, and weekend mornings. Book these 2–3 days ahead, more for a Friday or Saturday evening.
  • Quietest: weekday mornings and early afternoons. If you work shifts or have a flexible day, these are the easiest slots to get, often on the same day.
  • Summer: demand for indoor AC courts goes up from June to September, when outdoor play stops. Evening slots go faster.
  • Playing every week? Ask the venue for a fixed weekly slot rather than rebooking each time. It’s the most reliable way to get a prime-time court.

What to check before you book

  • Air-conditioning. In Dubai, “indoor” doesn’t always mean air-conditioned. Ask, especially for summer bookings.
  • Court surface. A proper synthetic or wooden badminton surface is easier on your knees and ankles than a painted concrete or multi-sport floor.
  • Ceiling height and lighting. Low ceilings cut off high clears and lifts; lights in your eyes make the shuttle hard to follow.
  • Equipment. Do you need your own rackets? Can you buy shuttles at the venue?
  • Cancellation rules. Find out how late you can cancel or move a booking without paying.
  • Parking and changing rooms. Worth checking if you’re coming straight from work.
